Claude Code Now Runs on Web and Mobile, Letting Devs Launch Parallel Jobs in the Cloud Without Lifting a Terminal

If you’re a developer juggling code across multiple repos, constantly hopping between your terminal, VS Code, and browser windows, this one’s for you. Anthropic just gave its AI-powered coding assistant, Claude Code, a major upgrade — it’s now available on the web and (in preview) on iOS.

Yep, that means you can start coding sessions straight from your browser or phone, no terminal required.

What’s New with Claude Code?

Web interface coding

Previously, Claude Code lived mostly in your local terminal or as an extension in popular IDEs like Microsoft’s VS Code and JetBrains tools. If you wanted to talk to Claude, you had to boot it up manually on your machine.

Now? You just go to the web interface, connect your GitHub repositories, tell Claude what you need, and it gets to work.

Here’s what stands out:

  • Coding on the go: With the mobile preview rolling out on iOS, developers have a reason to write (or fix) code from more places.
  • Runs in the cloud: No need to run heavy processes locally. Claude Code now executes in isolated, secure sandbox environments in the cloud.
  • Parallel jobs: You can launch multiple tasks across different repositories simultaneously. Think bugfixes running in parallel, or several PRs generated at once.

“Each session runs in its own isolated environment with real-time progress tracking,” according to Anthropic’s announcement.

Why This Matters

The async, cloud-based coding experience is catching on quickly in enterprise dev circles. Teams are looking to speed up how they ship code without breaking things.

Claude Code helps you do just that with:

  • Automatic pull request creation
  • Clear change summaries
  • Live task monitoring
  • The ability to correct course mid-task

That means fewer delays, more focused work, and less back-and-forth trying to interpret vague automated scripts or logs.

Still in Preview — With Some Limits

Claude Code on the web is available for Pro and Max users, but just like other Claude tools, it’s subject to rate limits. This became a hot topic after users began running long overnight jobs in July, and Anthropic stepped in to throttle things.

Also, while Claude’s still working on smoothing out the mobile experience, the web interface already offers a strong productivity lift if you’re coding with structured, repetitive tasks — like:

  • Refactoring backend logic
  • Running bug scrubs
  • Mapping out large repos
  • Answering project-related questions

Security Isn’t an Afterthought

Anthropic says all of these cloud-based tasks are walled off in secure, sandboxed environments. Your code won’t leak across sessions or poke around where it shouldn’t.

They’ve also added a proxy layer to make sure Claude only accesses authorized repos, and enterprise users can even restrict which domains it interacts with.

Powered by Claude Sonnet 4.5

All of this runs on Claude Sonnet 4.5, which Anthropic says is its best AI coding model so far. If you’re familiar with Claude Haiku 4.5 — a lighter, free version that also supports coding tasks — Sonnet is its smarter, more powerful sibling.

The Bigger Picture

This move puts Claude Code on more even ground with competitors like OpenAI’s Codex and Google’s Jules and Code Assist, which already support asynchronous coding and parallel tasking.

But what sets Claude apart is a bit of simplicity. You describe the task in natural language, and it runs automatically — with you steering if needed. No weird syntax or commands to memorize.

At the end of the day, Claude Code is aiming to be your coding buddy who doesn’t sleep, doesn’t crash, and actually follows instructions.

Whether you’re trying to ship faster, untangle bug reports, or just want an AI helper who doesn’t slow down your flow, Claude Code on the web might be worth checking out. Especially now that you don’t need to touch your terminal to get started.
